Welcome to the Computer Science Department at Texas Tech University. The search process for a new permanent Chair has begun. More information about our search can be found here.
Compared to six years ago, the department has radically changed. The addition of 16 new faculty members and the on-going graduate site in Abilene have led the department into a new level of activity in both teaching and research. One classroom has been adapted for long distance teaching; this, and one additional classroom are properly equipped to conveniently hook up students' laptops. In addition, improvements in the CS conference room to install multimedia equipment will definitely help in the integration of our Abilene site. Other changes are due to the diligence of the computer use committee and are reflected in the computer labs, integration of new servers, and in the increased bandwidth of the CS computer network.
We will continue to strive to improve the quality of our programs and at the same time, increase our research commitments. Toward this end, other changes worth mentioning include a thorough review of both our undergraduate and graduate curriculum.
