Applications and nominations are invited for the position of Chairperson of the Department of Computer Science. The successful candidate for this position must possess qualifications commensurate with appointment at the rank of full professor with tenure in the department. The successful candidate's academic credentials should demonstrate a dedication to effective teaching, a strong record of scholarship, and externally funded research. Previous service as department chair is not required, but applicants should provide evidence of administrative skills, leadership qualities and a commitment to strengthening the department's educational, research, and outreach programs
The Department of Computer Science is one of eight departments in the College of Engineering and offers a Ph.D., M.S., and B.S. in Computer Science. The department has 19 full time tenured and tenure-track faculty with 282 undergraduate majors and 129 graduate students. Faculty perform scholarly and funded research in many areas, including Artificial Intelligence, Language Theory, Data Mining and Distributed & Parallel Computing.
Texas Tech University is a comprehensive institution that includes law and medical schools with an enrollment of more than 28,000 students. Lubbock, a city of 200,000, is a major economic and medical center on the Texas South Plains, with an excellent climate and numerous cultural opportunities.
