- A US Patent, Number 6,839,663, "Haptic Rendering of Soft Bodied Objects," has been issued on January 4, 2005.
- Second place (out of over 100 entries) for "Haptic Laparoscopic Skills Trainer with Practical User Evaluation Metrics" at the Medicine Meets Virtual Reality (MMVR) Conference, Long Beach, CA 2005.
- Satava Award at 2002 MMVR for "Biomedical Applications for the Next
Generation Internet (NGI): Remote, Real Time Simulation for Teaching Human
Anatomy and Surgery," received jointly with Stanford Medical SchoolÕs
SUMMIT Group. Established in 1995 to acknowledge the contribution of Dr.
Richard M. Satava, this award is presented to an individual or research group
demonstrating unique vision and commitment to improving medicine through
advanced technology.
- A Haptic project "iFeel It," created in collaboration with the Stanford University Medical Media and Information Technology (SUMMIT) group, was selected for inclusion in the permanent exhibit in the Museum of Technology in Venice, Italy, in September, 2002
- "Graphics to Haptics," best Student Paper Award to Mr. Eric Acosta, my PhD
student, at the IEEE - Computer Based Medical System Conference in 1999.
